Summertime

Everyone is doing fine. Just felt like posting new pictures!! Stay cool (literally), be safe, and enjoy the warm weather.

June is here

No matter how much summer tries to put its foot down, the spring-like clouds and rain just keep hanging on. Such is weather in South Dakota. The kids are out of school and started going to Leif Ericson Day Camp this week. Jamie has also been doing softball (weather-permitting). Evan has started teething, and he is also rolling over on his own and is able to "swim-kick" a few crawls on his own. Enjoy his new pics!!

It's almost May...

...and it still feels like winter! Angela and I have both been suffering some seasonal allergies, but I'm sure it's nothing a little warmer weather won't cure. Evan is doing absolutely wonderfully. It's almost a month since his surgery, and he's eating on a regular basis, sleeping well through the night, and trying to roll over on his own. James and Anna are doing well, and you can tell they are getting the summertime fever. Fortunately, we have them enrolled in a summer camp, and Jamie will be starting softball very soon. In the meantime, enjoy the latest photos!

Evan in April

The past four days have been quite stressful, but things are looking up heading into spring and warmer weather. Evan had his immunizations on Wednesday, April 2nd, but his doctor was concerned that he had only gained one ounce from his 2-week checkup to his 2-month checkup (8.4 pounds to 8.5 pounds). Angela and I took him to Sanford Health the next morning, where he had an ultrasound, followed my an upper G.I. scope, followed by a second ultrasound. It turns out that Evan's "Exorcist"-style power puking was caused by pyloric stenosis, which is a very common condition in male babies, where the pyloric muscle at the bottom of the stomach is too long and doesn't open properly. He was admitted to Sanford, had some tests, and the surgery to correct the problem was done that afternoon. One overnight stay in the hospital later, and he was back home. Things have been going much smoother, as he hasn't had any puking problems. His doctor has also put him on a small dose of baby Prevacid, to help correct any damage to his stomach, as well as a daily dose of baby vitamins, which should help him catch up with his weight.

Evan seems like a whole new baby. He seems happier, eats and sleeps more regular, and doesn't generate as much dirty laundry as he used to! Now he can start eating and getting up to linebacker and quarterback weight!

Easter Weekend

Time continues to roll along. Angela is back at work, I've been busy at the store, thanks to warmer weather and a ton of new DVD releases, and the kids seem to be getting antsy for summer. Evan continues to surprise, whether it's his ability to projectile-vomit, his trying to roll over onto his stomach, his "climbing" when laying on Mommy's or Daddy's chest, his multitude of gurgles and slurps, or his impressive vocal range, I think this is Evan's world, and we're just livin' in it!

We took Easter photos at home this year, and I'd like to thank Ron K. for the wonderful outfit he gave to Evan, which we used as his Easter clothes this year. Ron is the district manager that hired me at Mr. Movies. He recently left the company to pursue other opportunities, and I'd like to thank him for giving me a great opportunity at Mr. Movies. Ron, if you read this, please stay in touch. You were and are a great boss, and, while I'm sad you're not with the company anymore, I'm happy that you've found something else to make you happy. Evan is now 1 month old and doing good!

Just after 3 weeks Evan started to vomit alot of what he was taking in. We started adding a little rice to his milk, which seemed to help a bit. But have now got him on medicine prescribed by the doctor, hoping for the best! Danny is of couse the proudest papa ever, taking pictures all the time. Anna a great little helper (almost too much at times). She actually changed her first diaper yesterday, next one I will get the camera. James helps when I really need him, his patients and understanding that Evan takes alot of my time is what I need the most.
